Customer Fit | Alignment | Performance Management

Jobs atrophy over time resulting in a job’s focus becoming diffused. People are often left to decide for themselves what is most important and often, what’s most important is not measured. At times, after examining job design or through process mapping, in3 discovers that the original reason for a job or department no longer exists. Without a relevant purpose, how motivated can that department’s employees be? It is critical that jobs focus on key roles. Having specific, key roles aids employees and their managers in determining what the customer wants and how to achieve it.
in3 utilizes job profiles for their simplicity (one page) and stability. Roles within job profiles rarely change, though responsibilities within roles may vary from year to year. Job roles provide focus, metrics and a sense of purpose. Conversely, lengthy job descriptions are written for compliance purposes, and, while necessary and useful to HR, they are of minimal use to managers and their direct reports. inTENTION services identifies what the internal/external customer expects, how it should be measured, and when it should be delivered.
